Knowledge guide
During your time playing Torva.io you will receive knowledge gems and protection gems from killing npcs/completing progression logs. You may be wondering what these gems do, in this guide we will be going over the uses for the gems and the knowledge skill entirely.
Let’s start out with knowledge gems, knowledge gems look like this.
Red Knowledge Gems
They are the most common gems and used for purchasing and upgrading modifiers.
Protection gems look like this
Green Protection Gems
and are used to protect your modifiers from degrading if you do not have enough knowledge gems.
Every npc kill up to Tier 19 gives knowledge experience. Level 70 is required to enter raids, and 99 is needed to upgrade a modifier to Tier 5
To obtain your first modifier you can either click the knowledge skill or run east of home to be teleported to the knowledge room, ::modifiers opens the upgrade interface.

The knowledge tutor has 4 modifiers available for purchase, power modifier, Luck modifier, crit modifier and beginner modifier. Each modifier can be upgraded to level 5.

To start upgrading modifiers you will see an orb west of the knowledge tutor

When adding a modifier you will also need to add knowledge gems to upgrade it, you can see the chance to upgrade in the bottom right corner.
Chance
Protection gems will save your modifier from degrading 100% of the time as long as you have 1000 protection gems added.
The beginner modifier is great for new players because of the cheap upgrade cost until they have enough knowledge gems for one of the better modifiers.
Tier 1-Tier 2 requires 1 knowledge gem for a 100% chance to upgrade
Tier 2-Tier 3 requires 100 knowledge gems for a 100% chance to upgrade
Tier 3-Tier 4 requires 200 knowledge gems for a 100% chance to upgrade
Tier 4-Tier 5 requires 334 knowledge gems for a 100% chance to upgrade
Power, Crit and luck modifiers require the same amount of knowledge gems per level to guarantee it doesn't fail.
Tier 1-Tier 2 requires 1000 knowledge gems for a 100% chance to upgrade
Tier 2-Tier 3 requires 1429 knowledge gems for a 100% chance to upgrade
Tier 3-Tier 4 requires 3334 knowledge gems for a 100% chance to upgrade
Tier 4-Tier 5 requires 10000 knowledge gems for a 100% chance to upgrade
There is one more modifier, the Godly modifier, that adds the bonuses of all modifiers into one. To obtain this modifier you will need the following modifiers Tier 5, Luck, Power and Crit. This modifier can be found in the upgrade items menu with a cost of 10B
Godly Modifier
Upgrading this modifier is the same as upgrading all of the other ones, except with a very high cost. Each level takes 10000 knowledge gems and 1000 protection gems.
